MLJ completed a major renovation on our house throughout the summer/fall of 2023 in Reading, MA. They completely remodeled our 1st floor - including moving the kitchen and a bathroom - and created an addition on the 2nd floor with a brand new bathroom. We love the project and are thrilled with the work that they did. They have even returned to the house since the project’s completion to resolve a couple of minor issues. One of the reasons that we chose to work with MLJ was because from the very 1st consult/site visit, Julliana & Lourenco brought their expertise and insight making suggestions that were creative and insightful. Several of these suggestions we ultimately did utilize in the project. They made it clear that they were willing to take the renovation in any direction we wanted and were always able to find solutions to the ideas we presented and for the problems that presented themselves. Their pricing was clear and inclusive (it was also one of the least expense quotes we got!) and even though there aspects of the renovation that ended up being more costly than either of us had anticipated, MLJ did not pass those costs on to us. Unbelievably for a project of this scale, our final cost was exactly what they quoted. Everyone working for MLJ is a craftsman and a professional. Their team knows how to work quickly and efficiently and are always willing to take suggestions/instructions and accommodate. Because of an issue that stemmed from permitting, our project got off to a late start and we had to move back into the house before it was complete. MLJ accommodated us, spending extra time cleaning each day before they left and adjusted the sequence of where they were working so that we could have living space in the house when we needed it. I don’t think that many other companies would have done this as completely. As with any new business working in new towns and on larger projects, there were some hiccups along the way. For example, the permitting process was slow and challenging. But, I believe that our project forced MLJ to adapt and I doubt that there will be issues in the future on other projects. They have better partners now and I know that they have efficiently obtained other permits in Reading since our experience. MLJ is a great company for anyone looking for a partner in their next home project or renovation and I strongly recommend them as a contractor. We were very involved throughout the process making decisions and purchases and directing workflow and details - and they were willing to work with us in that way. I can't say enough good things about our experience with MLJ Contractors! They worked very closely with us from the beginning of our patio project (initial design, permit procurement, scheduling, determining costs, etc.), to finish (final details, working with town inspector, cleanup, etc.). Julianna and her assistant Bianca, were a pleasure to work with, communicating with us on a regular basis, keeping us updated on progress, and answering all of or questions promptly. Laurenco, the project foreman, was extremely approachable and did a great job keeping his team on task, and on schedule, throughout the project. The gentlemen that did the actual work are true craftsmen! The overall quality of their work is of the highest quality, right down to the smallest details.
